Donations

In lieu of flowers, donations in Reuben's name could be made to either of two funds:

PAX CHRISTI-USA
Ambassadors of Peace
1225 Otis Street NE
Washington, D.C. 20017

Donations support the writings and work on behalf of peace and non violent conflict resolution in Haiti and other countries by Bishop Thomas J.Gumbleton.  Even before Reuben met Bishop Gumbleton, he was long grateful for Bishop's consistent support for the various social justice grassroots organizing and legislative campaigns Reuben advanced. Bishop Gumbleton officiated at Reuben and Kathleen’s wedding and will co-officiate at the funeral liturgy Feb. 11th

New Hope Ministries currently operates two emergency overnight shelters for homeless women in the District of Columbia: The Open Door Shelter for Women with 108 beds and the John L. Young Center for Women with 85 beds.  Both have been consistently full for the past year and this ministry remains committed to providing a safe, clean environment where guests are treated with dignity and respect.

Reuben developed more than fifty properties in the greater Washington area to provide affordable housing to those with special needs, including shelters, housing for low income seniors, victims of domestic violence, ex convicts seeking transitional housing, the first (and perhaps only) hospice for women dying of HIV/AIDS, etc.  Tragically, reduced government funding has resulted in the closing of some of the most effective such programs.
